Visas are not required for passengers on cruise ships with the exception of citizens of the USSR, Eastern European countries, People’s Republic of China, Taiwan, South Africa and Korea.


Duration of Visit.

Visitors coming to Barbados should provide proof of adequate means of support for the duration of their stay to the satisfaction of the Immigration officer at the port of entry.


Extension of Stay.

Visitors wishing to extend their stay should apply to:

The application must be made on the prescribed form, which is available at the department.

The following are required in support of the application:
(a) one passport size photograph
(b) a valid passport or travel document
(c) a valid airline ticket
(d) evidence of means of support
(e) application fee of BDS$25.

Visitors are not permitted to engage in any occupation or to accept employment during the period of their stay.

Business persons travelling to Barbados for business purposes should obtain permission from the Chief Immigration Officer before embarking on their assignments.

Students or persons who wish to pursue a course of study in Barbados should apply for a visa before entering the Island. Applications for student visas should be made to the Chief Immigration Officer on the prescribed form which is self-explanatory.


IMMIGRATION TIPS

Cruise Ship Visitors. Persons remaining on board the ship or only leaving it for a few hours, may not be inspected by the Immigration Officer. Persons not returning to their ship after entering Barbados must complete an Immigration card and present it, along with their travel documents, to the Immigration Officer on board the ship.

Departing Barbados. It is no longer necessary to be processed by Immigration when departing Barbados; Immigration cards should be handed in at the ticket desk.

Departure Tax. All persons departing Barbados must pay a departure tax of BDS$25.
